Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") before using Kenji ("Kenji", "Kenji Meals", or the "Service"). The Service is operated from Greece by DigitalBox Studios ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms govern your use of the app, website and related services. Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is processed. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. Nothing in these Terms overrides rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
1. The Service and the forthcoming update
Kenji focuses on recipes, cooking, weekly meal planning, meal preparation and shopping lists. Features and access can vary by app version, subscription, device and service availability. Recipe information, preparation times and grocery budgets are planning aids, not guarantees of results or actual shop prices.
Version 1.4 is being prepared and has not yet been released. That update removes recipe importing and its receiving share extension, import-credit referrals, AI generation and analysis, photo-based meal or fridge analysis, social-post extraction, calorie and macro displays and tracking, diet and weight goals, weight logging, automatic nutrition and portion recommendations, AppsFlyer attribution and Mixpanel app analytics.
Earlier installed versions may still display or use retired features while their services remain available. The update does not itself erase historical provider records. See the Privacy Policy for legacy AI and analytics processing. We do not promise continued availability of retired features; where changes materially affect paid access, mandatory consumer rights continue to apply.
2. Eligibility and age
You must be at least 15 years old to use the Service. If you are between 15 and 17, use requires the involvement of a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf. The Service is not intended for anyone under 15. An App Store content rating does not replace these eligibility requirements or any higher age restriction applicable to you.
Cooking can involve heat, sharp tools and other hazards. Use appropriate supervision and kitchen equipment, and do not attempt a technique you cannot carry out safely.
3. Recipe, nutrition and allergen information
Kenji is a recipe and cooking organizer and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or professional nutritional counselling. Version 1.4 retires calorie and macro tracking and displays, diet and weight goals, and weight logging. Previously saved tracking data may remain locally for compatibility, but it does not drive recipe selection or portions in that version.
Earlier app versions may still display nutrition estimates or tracking features. Those figures can be incomplete or inaccurate, and some carbohydrate and fat figures used a fixed estimation method rather than verified ingredient analysis. In all versions, ingredient amounts, portions, preparation times and prices can vary. Check source information and product labels, and consult a qualified professional for individual medical or dietary advice.
Ingredient filters and recipe labels do not certify a recipe as allergen-free or suitable for a medical diet. Check every ingredient, substitution, product label and preparation condition, including cross-contact risks. Imported content has not been verified by Kenji.
Follow appropriate food-safety guidance for handling, cooking, cooling, refrigeration, freezing and reheating. A recipe's timing is not proof of safe cooking; equipment, ingredient size and storage conditions affect results. Do not rely on Kenji to detect spoiled food or determine whether food is safe to eat.
4. Previously saved and third-party content
Version 1.4 does not provide recipe importing. For previously saved content, use only content you are entitled to access and use, and respect the source publisher's terms and intellectual-property rights. Having a saved copy does not grant a licence to republish, sell or distribute a publisher's text, images or other protected material. Keep source attribution where provided. You are responsible for having the rights needed for any further use or sharing.
Links and previously imported recipes do not imply endorsement, accuracy or permission for unrestricted reuse. Earlier app versions may continue to request content from source sites while those services remain available.
5. Your content and licence
"User Content" means recipes, notes, photos, preferences, logs and other material you choose to enter, import or share. You retain any rights you hold in that content. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to process User Content only as needed to provide the features you request and operate the Service, subject to the Privacy Policy. This licence does not permit us to sell your content or use your meal photos to train AI models.
Only provide content you own or have the necessary permission to use. Obtain any required consent for identifiable people in photos. Sharing outside Kenji is your choice and is governed by the destination service's terms and privacy practices. Back up information important to you; local data may be lost when app storage is removed.
6. Acceptable use
You must not infringe others' rights, submit unlawful or harmful content, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with the Service, abuse referrals, resell access, or circumvent subscription or usage limits. Restrictions on reverse engineering or copying apply only to the extent permitted by law. Do not present Kenji's content or estimates as professional medical or nutritional advice.
7. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation
Some features require an auto-renewing subscription purchased through Apple. Available plans, billing periods, prices and any trial or introductory-offer eligibility are shown before purchase. RevenueCat helps administer subscription access and restoration; Apple handles payment. Apple's purchase terms apply alongside any mandatory consumer rights.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. If offered and eligible, an unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Deleting the app or its data does not cancel a subscription. Use Apple's purchase history or Report a Problem service for purchase and refund requests; you may also contact us about access problems.
Nothing in these Terms removes any applicable right of withdrawal, refund, conformity remedy or other mandatory consumer protection. Where immediate supply of digital content or services affects a withdrawal right, any legally required express consent and acknowledgment must be obtained through the applicable purchase process; merely using Kenji or reading these Terms is not a blanket waiver.
8. Privacy and third-party services
Apple, RevenueCat and hosting providers support parts of the updated Service. Previously saved source links and earlier app versions may also access third-party recipe sites. Earlier app versions or historical records may also involve DeepSeek, OpenAI, AppsFlyer or Mixpanel, as described in the Privacy Policy. Removing an integration from version 1.4 does not establish that historical data has been deleted.
The website has separate advertising and optional newsletter features. Their processing and privacy choices are described in the Privacy Policy. Third-party services have their own terms; we remain responsible for obligations applicable to us.
9. Intellectual property
Rights in Kenji's software, branding and content belong to us or the relevant rights holders. Except as permitted by these Terms, a rights holder or applicable law, do not reproduce, distribute, sell or create derivative works from protected material. User Content and third-party recipe content remain subject to their respective ownership and permissions.
10. Availability, changes and ending use
You can stop using the Service at any time. We may maintain, change or retire features, or restrict access for misuse, security or legal reasons, subject to applicable law and paid-service obligations. We will give reasonable notice of material changes where required. Contact us about access or data issues. Local deletion controls do not necessarily remove server records, backups or historical provider data; see the Privacy Policy for request options. Subscription cancellation is handled separately through Apple.
11. Service limitations
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without additional guarantees of uninterrupted operation, particular cooking results or complete accuracy. This does not exclude statutory conformity guarantees, remedies or any other non-excludable consumer rights.
12. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses or loss of profits or data. Where liability can lawfully be limited, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or one hundred euros (€100). These exclusions and limits do not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or mandatory consumer remedies.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Greek law without depriving you of mandatory protections under the law that applies where you live. Disputes may be brought before the courts competent under applicable law; this does not remove a consumer's right to use their local courts where legally available. Please contact us first if you would like help resolving a problem. Information about EU consumer redress and alternative dispute resolution is available from the European Commission.
14. Changes to these Terms
We will identify the effective date of revisions and provide reasonable notice of material changes where required. Changes do not remove rights already accrued or retrospectively authorize new processing. If a change legally requires your agreement or consent, we will seek it through an appropriate process. If you do not accept revised terms, you may stop using the Service and manage any subscription through Apple, without affecting mandatory rights.
